Please take a bit to browse our site. We have a lot of good info and spend a lot of time researching Newf info and trying to make this site as informative as possible.
We feel an informed Newf owner makes better decisions on medical care, grooming, feeding etc, so please take advantage of the chance to look over our site if you are considering adding a Newfoundland to the family.
If you have any suggestions to improve our site, please email us.
Our pups are between $1250 and $1500, depending on breeding.
Champion Sired puppies are $1500, all other puppies are $1250.
Shipping is available for an additional $300 for pups under 10 weeks.
Pups older than 10 weeks can sometimes run as much as $350 to ship depending on size and weight, but usually the higher rate applies once they are 12 weeks or older.
All potential puppy buyers are screened before a puppy is placed.
As responssible Newfoundland breeders, and to ensure that our pups go to the best possible homes, pet puppies are sold ONLY on spay/neuter contracts with AKC Limited Registration.
Show/breeding pups are sold initially on AKC Limited Reg. When hip and heart certifications are obtained, we change the Limited Reg to an AKC Full Reg. Heart certs MUST be by a Cardiologist, and hip certs MUST be a MINIMUM of OFA prelim evaluations of Fair, Good or Excellent OR a PennHip of 60th percentile or above with NO evidence of DJD.
An AKC Limited Reg puppy means you have a pure bred AKC registerred Newfoundland that can participate in all AKC sanctioned events EXCEPT showing. They can participate (and are encouraged to participate!!!) in Obedience, Agility, Water Work, Carting/Drafting, Search and Rescue, Therapy etc.
Also, Limited Reg dogs do not have breeding rights.
Responsible Newfoundland breeders always do the necessary health checks on the adults before breeding. All of our adults are Penn-Hip screened and Heart Certified by a Canine Cardiologist. In addition, we have a full thyroid panel run on both parents annually to make sure no thyroid problems are cropping up. All of our dogs are DNA tested for their cystinuria status and our lines are free of carriers and affected.
Generally, we have blacks , although we do sometimes have Landseers, depending on the breeding choices made.
Our pups are at least 10 weeks old before leaving for their new homes, sometimes we have pups that arent ready to be away from Mom and littermates until they are 10 weeks, and we have the occasinal pup that does better waiting until 12 weeks.
While most Newfoundland breeders consider their pups ready to go once they are eating solid food, we feel that maturity and socialization level is a better indicator.
We DO understand that you want your pup as soon as possible, however, we know that if your puppy is truly ready to be away from Mom and littermates, it will be better adjusted and you will have an easier time with him or her.
Before they join their new families, Cedar Valley pups are examined by our vet , vaccinated by our vet, wormed and also SAS screened by a certified Vet Cardiologist on staff at Veterinary Specialty Services in St Louis MO. No Cedar Valley pup leaves our care to go to their new family until our Cardiologist gives her OK.
SAS (sub aortic stenosis) is a heart defect that Newfoundlands are predisposed to. SAS occurs in all lines of Newfoundlands, and parents clear of SAS can produce it in their puppies. SAS can run the gamut from mild (no health problems and no shortened lifespan) to severe (severe health issues and most dogs die before age 3). The best way to protect against SAS in Newfs is to have all adults screened by a Vet Cardiologist before breeding, and to have all pups screened by a Vet Cardiologist at 9 weeks of age or older.
If you receive your puppy at 10 weeks of age, he will still need to get a minimum of 3 more booster vaccinations as well as his Rabies vaccination. Ages for Rabies vaccinations differ from state to state, but are generally required by law between 12-16 weeks of age.
